Organizational Assessment
Using the Organizational Life Cycle Model, an organizational assessment is conducted to identify the level of performance and to target appropriate activities to improve effectiveness and performance. The six cycles include Turnaround/Start-Up, Stabilization, Performance/Quality, Growth, Innovation and Industry Leadership. Cycle-specific tools and interventions are recommended to assist the organization in achieving its goals.

Magnet Designation
An evidence-based framework comprised of four components - transformational leadership, structural empowerment, exemplary professional practice and new knowledge to achieve excellent outcomes - is used to create an environment conducive to excellent patient care. We can assist your organization in pursuing Magnet designation including gap analysis and action planning as you begin your Magnet  journey; mock site survey and preparation for Magnet appraisers' site visit; and critique and feedback on your Magnet application to be sure that  each source of evidence is adequately addressed.

Patient Safety
Through a strategic and methodical approach, the patient safety initiative transforms the culture into a High Reliability Organization (HRO).  Key work includes using the AHRQ Patient Safety Culture survey to develop an operational plan to address team communication, establish safety walkarounds, and implement policies and procedures to support a just culture. We work with the Executive Team, Physician leaders, frontline leaders and staff to implement and monitor the initiative.

Service Excellence
Utilizing a comprehensive organizational excellence model developed by Thunderbird Leadership Consulting, we provide a tested framework for this organizational initiative to transform  the culture using the significant involvement of staff level participants. Key work includes identifying and implementing service standards, designing and implementing a roll-out plan, selecting critical success measures, and measuring results.  Because this is systemic work, we help focus Senior leaders on the initiative and align service excellence activities to vision, mission and goals.

Breakthrough  Leadership

Given the importance of leadership and the executive’s role in transforming today’s complex systems, this program brings together executives from organizations around the globe to work together to see the world anew by refocusing the lens through which leadership is viewed. Leadership requires expanding the capability of people within the organization to deal with and adapt to continuous change and complexity. This focus starts with the building the capability of the leader him/herself and then moves to creating the context within which others can be successful and align their actions to the vision.

Breakthrough Leadership provides executives with:
  1.    an enhanced ability to solve today’s problems through a systems framework
  2.    the development of a plan to address a new idea or existing challenge
  3.    demonstrable progress in each of the five Magnet components
  4.    enhanced leadership performance and teamwork

This program brings together a cohort of executives to include:

  • A two-day Symposium and round table in Phoenix, Arizona
  • An overview of the Transformational Change Model for living and leading
  • Integration of contemporary issues and solutions for today's challenges
  • The creation of new knowledge that advances performance and leadership
  • The development of a plan that addresses a specific professional or organizational challenge
  • Six 1:1 one-hour coaching sessions to explore professional growth opportunities. Assessment tools will be used to provide in-depth information useful to the individual

Group Facilitation
Given the need to help groups come to consensus, a participatory facilitation approach is used to move the organization towards its goals.  We focus on process not content and work with the leader to move the group to an outcome.  We facilitate individual meetings or a series of sessions to plan for change, develop implementation strategies, make decisions or solve  problems.  We meet with the client to understand needs, plan the agenda, and design sessions/meetings to best attain the goals.
